In Class Essays
IN class essays suck becausem you are usually unprepared for them. Sometimes your teacher will not warn you about the essay. He or she may just throw it into class without warning. Another reason is that most instructors with never give you the topic a head of time. No matter how much you beg and pleaed. It can make things very stressful on the writer and throw them into a state of writers block.

My life began Saturday February 10th 1990. I was born at Kaiser hospital in Sacramento California. I was named after my Father. I have four younger siblings. Three sisters and one brother. I went to pre school at Merry Hill. I then moved on to Matsuyama Elementary School. For middle school I moved from Sacramento to Los Angeles. Los Angeles was a big move. It was the first time I have ever lived with my mother. It was a difficult change for me at first. However in the long run it all turned out ok except for the usual bumps in the road. After two years I moved back to Sacramento for High School where I attended Kennedy High School. I have worked a lot in construction and landscaping for a lot of my life. Now i am in college to get my general ed so I can transfer to a four year college and get my bachelors degree. I'm not sure what I want it in yet but i will soon hopefully decide.

The topic of Outcasts United is about a group of boys
that are refugees from other countries. They are brought
over to Clarkston Georgia for the wars going on in their
home countries. Its about them coming to America and
joining a soccer team that is hard working, teaches team
morals, how to respect one another and competitive
property's. They have a coach that does not discriminate
against them based on where they come from, what their
religion is or color of their skin. She treats them as if they
have been living there their whole lives. All she asks is that
they follow her rules and respect her as she does to them.
Basically this book is about morals and right choices. I can
learn to make right choices and have my choices be focused
on school not all the partying and other activity's that are not
as important. I think this book was pick for this class to
maybe teach us these morals, and for us to feel like our
teaches are the same as Luma. That they are here for us
and will treat every student the same no matter there work
ethic or past. They just focus on the future.

When I am at home and I sit down to write one of the first things I do is make sure I have no distractions. Make sure that there is no music, TV, or background noise from siblings. When I begin writing I start to ask myself multiple questions about the topic. Such as what is the question asking? How do I solve it? Does this relate to me in any way? Once I have answered those questions on a separate piece of paper I begin to write down different ideas that I have about the question. Once all that is done I am able to think of a topic sentence and go from there.
it seems to work out for me very well. But I hope that some things I learn in this class will make this process more efficient and get a better end result.

Chapter 1 Blog
While i was in high school i had a lot of expectations as to what my college experience would be like. To be honest I wasn't exactly to thrilled about moving on to college. I thought that college would be more academically challenging than high school was. I pictured myself having a crammed schedule, dealing with tons of homework, and late nights spent studying for tests. I felt unsure about the transition from high school to college; wondering if the education I received would be enough preparation for the next four years. Truthfully I was really hoping that college would be the alcohol driven, hormone infested party scene like in such movies as Dead Man On Campus and Van Wilder.
My first college experience was when I attended Sacramento City College the fall semester after I graduated. I realized quickly that college was neither the academic roadblock or the non stop party that I believed it to be. Classes did seem to be a bit more structured than they were in high school but I believe that my high school experience helped my transition to college courses. The workload seems to be more crammed in college; trying to fit all of the information we students need in a sixteen week semester seems to accelerate the learning process.
As I became more adjusted to going to city college I came to the discouraging realization that college is a lot like high school. Some of the students I see walking around campus seem slightly uninterested in being there at all. Although I have the freedom to pick my own schedule the classes I have to chose from are not as broad as I thought they would be. The party scene is defiantly a part of the college experience but you don't see students walking around with a 40 in their hands and a joint in the other. The teachers in college seem to be more available than my teachers that I had in high school. College teachers seem more passionate about their jobs which is a pleasant surprise.
The thoughts that I had of college in high school seemed to be the two extremes; academic overload and one big party. In reality I found that college seems to be a mixture of these two stereotypical expectations.

Hi my name is Sam
Hello,
My name is Samuel Lee Gruver Jr. I usually just go by Sam though. I am going to Sierra College to get all of my GE done so that i may transfer to a four year college. I attended elementary school at Matsuyama in Sacramento. I then moved to LA in the San Bernidino area. I attended two years of middle school there. I then moved back to Sacramento and attended Sam Brannan middle school for a year before moving on to high school. I went to John F. Kennedy high for three years before transferring to Horizon Charter School. After high school i went right into college at Sacramento City College. I attended three semesters there before transferring to Sierra.
Some things that i like to do are cooking, skating, biking, camping, hunting, fishing, working, spending time with friends and family. I never really have time for that anymore because of school. but education is more important than leisure time. I also enjoy golfing. I have been playing since i was seven years old. I have done lots of construction in my life. Which include framing, hanging Sheetrock, finishing work such as texture, paint, stucco, also roofing.
